Spam or Phishing?

The world of security has become blurred. Is the email described in the Symantec blog a phishing attempt, a piece of spam, a hack or an attempted Trojan? Heck we could go on and on and they would all be correct.

Security Landscape Blurred

What bad guys can do and how they do it changes. Sorry to say, but I miss the days where good old anti virus was all you needed. And believe it or not many people then did not think anti virus was a necessity. I am not talking 1980 or even 1990, but 2000. Now there are more security hardware and software solutions than you can even imagine. And rightfully so, there are so many ways for a hacker or whatever to wreak havoc.

What is a customer to do?

We recommend customers put together a corporate security policy so they have a plan in place and know what to do WHEN, not if, something happens. Most companies cannot be secure against everything, but the key is to know your real risk, accept it, plan for it and then be prepared.
