The end is near for IT Security Co’s
Ahhh I can recall, like it was yesterday, the good ‘ol days of monopolies. Before Upton Sinclaire wrote about terrible working conditions in the meat packing industry, children were banned from the work place and unions took hold of the work force. A lot of good came from busting up the Robber Barron’s of the 1800’s and 1900’s.
Of course today, we no longer have monopolies, right? Or do we? It seems Microsoft has been able to avoid the official Scarlett ‘M’ designation from the US Government and European Union, but hey, between me and you…they are a monopoly.
If they had competition for their software imagine the competition between the two companies to provide clean code and the best security, heck we might not even need all the tons of security products we do now. What a scary thought for the thousands of security software and hardware companies out therewith billions and billions in sales and trillions and trillions of dollars of market value!
Well, apparently some are picking Adobe and their AIR (Adobe Integrated Runtime) as possible contenders to Bill’s thrown! Yesterday on Mashable Kristen Nicole wrote about just such a possibility…and I got a little giddy. Michael Calore of Wired also had something to say on the topic.
Shake in your boots security manufacturers, the end could be near for you!
